After being mentored for years in the art of raising puppies, we bought a couple of acres, built a home in the country and began to realize our dream of having our own kennel. In July 2006, after a painstaking search, we purchased 2 female yellow Labrador Retriever puppies to begin our breeding program. Cheyenne and Nikita came from excellent hunting lines with extreme talent, high drive, big on intelligence and long on endurance. Two years later we selected a stud, Boomer, who had all the desirable traits which best accentuated our girls and our first litter was whelped. Boomer has proven himself to be a wonderful stud dog, consistently producing pups that we are extremely proud of.
Although we do focus on the "Fox Red" shade of the yellow lab, we are first and foremost attentive to the hunting bloodlines, temperament, intelligence, drive, endurance and health of our dogs. Field labs with a strong English accent.
Our dogs are x-rayed and certified for Hip and Elbow Dysplasia by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) or the Ontario Veterinary College (OVC) They are tested for Hyperuricosuria (HU),Cystinuria, Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC), Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA), Degenerative Myelopathy (DM) and Centronuclear Myopathy (CNM). They are also annually checked and certified free of heritable eye disease by Canine Eye Registration Foundation. (CERF)
Very early on we began working with and learning from a forty year veteran Animal Behavior Specialist and our puppies have benefited immensely as a result. Exercises that begin at birth, with environmental sounds and confidence building equipment, socialization and introduction to a multitude of humans and other other species in public and in the home. Puppies are aptitude tested at 49 days old and stay with their littermates until at least 8 weeks of age.
Our puppies have been selected for a variety of jobs. Search and Rescue. Assistants for the physically and visually impaired. Therapy Dogs. Autistic Assistance dogs, and Seizure Detection. They are Dock Dogs, Agility Competitors and of course Hunters! We take great pride in the knowledge that when you are considering one of our puppies, you are considering a puppy that has been bred, nurtured and equally well prepared for any career path. Most importantly, here at Red Labrador Retrievers, our puppies become family members and well-loved companions.

A great deal of time, planning and effort, go into each of our breeding's. Breeding decisions, are based on the selection process of health clearances, structure and temperament, to ensure that we are producing healthy, sound puppies that become well rounded companions and K9 partners.
Before leaving for their new homes all puppies have been aptitude tested. Dewclaws have been removed. They have been wormed and received their first immunizations.
Our puppies are handled many times daily from birth. They are exposed early on, to normal household happenings and real world sights and sounds. Our goal is to send home puppies with a “water off a ducks back, been there, done that” attitude towards any challenges that may come their way.
